Eszter NOVA, PhD
Her expertise is the global political economy of the economic crisis, including the emerging populism and authoritarianism in the wake of the crisis.
Political Economy Fellow
Journalist, blogger, and writer, Eszter has been a geopolitical analyst at Stratfor and an energy commodity market consultant in London before joining the Institute as a political economy fellow in 2009.

Co-authored a book on the management of the crisis in Europe, edited a volume on the consolidation of third wave democracies, currently working on an interdisciplinary research on the emergence of authoritarianism.
She obtained her PhD (summa cum laude) from ELTE, Budapest. Her dissertation is a study of the financial crisis from the perspectives of international relations, geopolitics, geoeconomics and international political economy.
She teaches graduate courses on the future of the welfare state, political theory, political economy, the economic crisis, and foreign policy analysis.
